Premier SBCL – Weekend 2 @ BATTS

Fusion TTC Dig Deep in a Weekend of Fine Margins

Fusion TTC were right in the thick of the action during an intense second weekend of Premier BCL competition on 13–14 December, with every match decided by the narrowest of margins and pressure moments defining the outcome.

The weekend began with a thrilling 4–3 win over Ormeau, as Fusion’s depth and resilience shone through. While Oriol Monzo claimed two singles for Ormeau, strong performances across the Fusion lineup proved decisive. Larry Trumpauskas and Shaquille Webb-Dixon picked up vital wins, while Lorestas Trumpauskas remained unbeaten to help Fusion over the line in a tightly contested battle.

There was more drama in the second match, but this time heartbreak, as Fusion narrowly fell 4–3 to Drumchapel Glasgow. Larry Trumpauskas set the tone with a determined comeback win, and Premier BCL debutant Rikuto Morota made an immediate impact by defeating Aaron McKibbin to keep the scores level. The match came down to the final game, where Webb-Dixon was edged out 11–9 in the fifth, underlining just how fine the margins were.

Sunday morning saw Fusion line up against eBaTT, and it was a contest that swung quickly into Fusion’s favour as they ran out 5–2 winners.

The match didn’t start to script, with Rikuto Morota edged out 3–1 by Nahom Asgedom, giving eBaTT the early momentum. But Fusion responded immediately. Larry Trumpauskas stepped up in style, digging deep in a gripping battle against Ismaila Akindya, edging a dramatic fifth game 14–12 to level the tie.

That proved to be the turning point. Lorestas Trumpauskas followed with a hard-fought 3–2 win over Asgedom, before Fusion hit full stride. Three straight-game victories followed, with Lorestas Trumpauskas and Rikuto Morota sweeping aside their opponents to put the result beyond doubt and seal a convincing win for Fusion.

A good Sunday as Fusion completed a perfect day with another gritty 4–3 victory, this time against North Ayrshire. Larry Trumpauskas was outstanding, producing two dominant straight-games wins, while Morota helped Fusion race into an early lead. After North Ayrshire pulled things back, both Larry and Lorestas Trumpauskas delivered crucial 3–0 victories under pressure to seal the win before the final match was played.

With three hard-fought 4–3 victories and one narrow defeat, Fusion TTC showcased resilience, composure, and a growing belief as the league reached its halfway point. If this weekend was any indication, Fusion are more than ready for the challenges ahead when the action resumes at Fusion TTC on 14 February.
